The first race that the Lehigh University Running club will be competing in as a part of the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA) is the Princeton Invitational, which is this weekend.
This is the first year that the Running Club is a part of NIRCA. Since many of the members of the team are former High School Cross Country runners, it is no surprise that eventually the Lehigh Running Club would start to compete. For many weeks now the Running Club has been doing training so as to be able to better compete against other colleges.
Even though the Running Club is now competing against other colleges it is not as time demanding as the Lehigh Cross Country Team. The runners get Wednesday and Sunday off to recover and other than the one speed work out a week, it is mostly just semi-long runs.
I wish the best of luck to the Running Club in the Princeton Invitational.
